 Tip!
- Fasteners used with wood treated with Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ) must be hot dipped or stainless steel. Ordinary galvanized fasteners degrade when they come in contact with the wood treatment chemicals.
- Wood is no longer treated with CCA, which included minute amounts of arsenic. Treated wood sold today is safe for deck and residential construction.
- With the proper tools and instruction, composite wood materials like Trex can be bent to form a curved deck or other application.
